Detective Mike Wuchek had no trouble finding a murder suspect and serving him a warrant: the suspect was already in jail.
The suspect — who turned 37 years old on Thursday — was behind bars on unrelated charges; he has prior felony convictions for robbery, firearms and drug charges.
The suspect’s newest charges as delivered by Wuchek — which include murder, first-degree assault with a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit — relate to the shooting death last Aug. 8 at Vernon Street and Davenport Avenue in the Hill of 15-year-old Jacob Craggett, and the non-fatal shootings of two other people in that incident (as well as an attempted shooting of a fourth).
Police said they “anticipate” another arrest, so they succeeded in having the arrest warrant sealed.
