A neighbor out for a morning walk at the Morris Cove seawall Tuesday morning discovered the body of a 39-year-old New Jersey man who had shot himself to death.
The suicide occurred around 7:30 a.m., according to top East Shore cop Sgt. Vincent Anastasio.
The New Jersey man was visiting his father, who moved to the neighborhood a few years ago, Anastasio said. The son had battled depression for many years. Tuesday morning he took his father’s revolver, left a note on the porch telling his father he’d be at the seawall, then left, according to Anastasio. The female neighbor out for a walk subsequently found him, dead.
