It was 10 on a weekend. The night was young.
But not young enough for a tender chicken wing.
So Jose Candelario learned, to his dismay.
He brought his dismay on air Monday morning for the inaugural episode of the “Good Morning” drive-time program he hosts on WNHH FM.
“I went to Dangle’s [on Orange Street]. They denied me wings. I went to New West. They denied me wings. I went to Delaney’s. They denied me wings,” he informed his listener.
“This was between 10 and 10:30 on a Saturday! … There’s literally a wing-off in the city” after 10.
His co-host, Marcey Lynn, felt his pain: Anything else you can find at that hour, she confirmed, doesn’t deserve the “wings” title: “They’re not even wingettes: Two bones and a strip of meat.”
Are they missing a place? If you have suggestions for how Jose (or anyone else) can get a late-night wings fix in New Haven, feel free to post a comment below or email Jose at goodmorningwnhh@gmail.com.
