With a bronze-medal finish at the USA Boxing National Championships on Friday, Nephateria Miller moved up to third place nationwide in her weight class.
The 18-year-old from the Hill trains at the Ring One boxing gym on Congress Avenue. She traveled with trainer Brian Clark to Colorado Springs last week to compete in the national championships in the 119-pound division.
On Friday, she won a fight by decision against Lindsay Bartels of Omaha, Nebraska, to capture the bronze medal. That advances her from eighth place nationally to third place, said Clark.
