Another day — another announcement of new cities to which Avelo Airlines is now flying direct from Tweed New Haven Airport.
Avelo made this latest announcement Wednesday morning: In June it will start flying direct from New Haven to St. Louis, Houston … and Traverse City, Michigan.
That latter northern destination reflects the evolution of Tweed’s main commercial strategy from a focus on business travel to mostly a focus on leisure: Remote 15,559-populated Traverse City isn’t a corporate business powerhouse. It does boast wineries, craft breweries, “ecotourism responsible adventures,” and hiking and biking and festivals.
That now brings to 24 the number of nonstop destinations Avelo flies to from New Haven — from zero in under two years.
