A report released Tuesday by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven portrays a time of high stress for local not-for-profits.
The report is based on a survey of “stakeholders” (organization leaders, charitable givers, and consultants).
It found that amid the recession, not-for-profits are being called on to do a lot more — while donations are dropping “signficantly.” Arts groups “are especially vulnerable.” Executive directors are fretting about cash flow and about state budget cuts, especially at larger groups.
The foundation concluded that it has an opportunity it plans to seize to “develop deeper relationships with non-profits, donors and professional advisors” and to “be a leader in providing funding, technical assistance, knowledge and advocacy.”
