Kirk’s Parking
210 Crown Street, between College and Temple

Roofed with tin masquerading as tile, in one of the oldest surviving open parking lots in New Haven, this serviceable cottage has something of a decadent Munchkin sensibility about it.

There is a more regal shelter in a similar establishment behind Louis’ Lunch, but it is prissy with awnings. This is the real thing, battered , with a vintage pre-Helvetica PARK” sign across from it, lacking only a 1948 Ford sedan pulled up alongside for the full noir effect.
