Anna Daegele, Landscape, 2009, mixed media
There is something of the laboratory to Anna Daegele’s Shelton Avenue studio with its scattering of what might be metal petri dishes with spiders in amber or samples of Hamlet’s “quintessence of dust.” In this piece, she collects forensic evidence of some smaller Creation story, like a miniature songline made visible. Several of her evocative experiments will be on view in an exhibition at Artspace, 50 Orange St., which opens on January 14.
