Pedestrian Struck On Foxon Blvd

A car struck a pedestrian on Foxon Boulevard late Wednesday night in a crash that resulted in life-threatening injuries for the pedestrian.

The New Haven Police Department (NHPD) made that announcement in a Thursday post on X, which states that police responded to the 400 block of Foxon Boulevard at 10:29 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving report of the crash.

On arrival, officers located the pedestrian, who was being treated by Fire Department personnel, and spoke with the driver, who remained at the scene. The unidentified pedestrian was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An initial police investigation showed that the car hit the pedestrian while the victim was crossing the street, though not at a crosswalk, according to Thursday’s post.

On Thursday afternoon, police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart said that the NHPD is still working to identify the victim, who is male. The victim’s injuries are still considered life-threatening.

The Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to investigate further. Police ask anyone who might have witnessed the event or have any relevant information to call detectives at 203 – 946-6304, or through the department’s anonymous tip line at 866 – 888-TIPS (8477).
