RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW
HAVEN AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN TO
SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT
OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED $750,000.00 FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS FOR
THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE SERVICE TO DEVELOP A CRIME
GUN INTELLIGENCE CENTER TO IMPROVE ITS CAPACITY TO WORK
WITH ITS ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, FIREARMS, AND EXPLOSIVES (ATF)
PARTNERS TO USE INTELLIGENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TO IDENTIFY UNLAWFULLY USED
FIREARMS AND THEIR SOURCES, AND EFFECTIVELY PROSECUTE
PERPETRATORS ENGAGED IN VIOLENT CRIME.
* In addition, the committee will hold a workshop to discuss how the COVID-19 crisis has affected New Haven’s public-safety departments, especially their personnel and how they respond to calls for service from the public.
