New Haven police are mourning the shooting death of a retired officer whose body was found alongside that of his wife in a Waterbury bedroom.
The retired officer, Eric Jones, worked for the New Haven department for over 20 years. He worked as a school resource officer at Hillhouse High School. He retired in 2012.
His body and the body of his wife, LaRhonda Jones, were discovered Thursday afternoon in a bedroom in a Perkins Avenue condo complex, according to the Waterbury Republican-American newspaper.
New Haven police are in touch with Waterbury police as the investigation proceeds, according to New Haven Chief Otoniel Reyes.
“It’s very tragic. We’re very sorry to hear of the loss of a former police officer,” Reyes said.
Jones attended Hamden High School and Southern Connecticut State University.
