Hit-&-Run Driver
Killed Pedestrian

The man run over by a hit-and-run driver this weekend died from the collision (Register report here).

He apparently died soon after the 1:44 a.m. crash, even though the city’s spokesperson reported his condition as critical” through the day and the city offered no updates on Monday.

Edgewood neighborhood reader Nathan Janette sent in a photo and write-up of a Saturday evening car crash:

At approximately 11:20 p.m. tonight, we heard yelling, then screeching of tires, then the sound of impact. It appears the white car turned from the Boulevard the wrong way onto Elm Street, which is one-way on this block. The operator of the white car was a young woman with a passenger. Two other vehicles collided while avoiding the oncoming white car. The red car was hit, or hit, hard enough to deploy the airbags. No one appeared injured. Fire department crews were on the scene within a few minutes.”

City spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga said the police department did not have a report available to confirm that information or offer any other information about what happened in that incident. (The DeStefano administration recently put the mayor’s spokeswoman in charge of releasing public information about police incidents.)
