School Bus
Window Shot Out

Someone shot out the window of a school bus with kids inside.

It happened around 12:30 Monday.

Police responded to a report of a First Student bus with the shot-out window parked in the area of Maple and Norton streets in the Edgewood neighborhood.

The incident originally occurred up the street at Ellsworth Avenue and Edgewood Avenue. The driver fled the scene and called police, who are on the scene now trying to figure out what happened.

None of the kids was hurt, according to an officer on the scene.

The bus was carrying Career High School students, according to schools spokeswoman Abbe Smith. The students were headed home early because of early dismissal for a teacher in-service day.

We’re pretty sure it was a b.b. gun” that shot out the window, Smith said.

Around 30 students were on board. They alerted the driver to the window breaking. They said they didn’t see the person who fired, according to police.
