Search On For Shooters

Police arrested one man and are looking for two others in connection with a shooting and probable attempted robbery” that occurred near the Yale Bowl Thursday afternoon.

Details of the incident remain incomplete. Here’s what police can report so far, according to spokesman Officer David Hartman:

A 49-year-old man said he picked up three men he knew, who directed him to drive to the Yale Bowl area. He said he sensed he was being set up but before he could do anything about it, two of his passengers pulled handguns and shot him simultaneously in the head. The three passengers bailed out of [his] car and fled on foot.”

The man tried to drive himself to the hospital, but crashed en route, at Chapel and Norton streets. He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Neither bullet penetrated [his] skull,” and his injuries are labeled non-life threatening.”

Detectives, working with patrol officers, identified the three men allegedly involved in the attack. They found one of them, who’s 18, and charged him with conspiracy to commit assault in the first degree. They’re looking for the other two.
