Shots rang out in Beaver Hills at rush hour Wednesday after a Tomos scooter collided with a green pick-up truck.

It was one of three instances of gunshots fired in the neighborhood over a roughly 24-hour period, according to Assistant Police Chief Archie Generoso.

Police closed off Blake Street at Farnham Avenue, always a jammed rush-hour intersection, around 5:30 after neighbors reported hearing three gunshots.

it was time to duck!” said one man on the sidewalk.

The cops found a smashed scooter (pictured above) on the sidewalk.

They learned about the collision with the pick-up truck. They found two shell casings.

But the truck, and the driver of both vehicles, were nowhere to be found, top Beaver Hills cop Sgt. Max Joyner (pictured) said at the scene.

Later Wednesday police tracked down the scooter rider. He told them someone had rear-ended his scooter, but he denied knowing about any gunshots.

Two other incidents involving gunshots were reported between Tuesday night and Wednesday night, according to Generoso. Also, a man with a minor gunshot wound was found just over the Hamden line nearby at Fitch and Arch later Wednesday night. Generoso said he was still waiting to review the reports of all those incidents with police supervisors to learn more.
