Police are looking for a while male, short stature” with a beard (pictured) who exited the store with five packages of stolen shrimp,” hopped in a silver Dodge Caravan, and drove of eastbound on Skiff Street, reported Hamden Capt. Ronald Smith. He asked anyone will information to contact Officer Darryl Cargill at 203 – 230-4030.

This incident follows two other recent crustacean crime capers at the Amity Stop & Shop in New Haven.

Several weeks ago, a man was caught walking out of that store with pilfered bags of shrimp. (Read about that here.)

Then the store was hit again this past week, on Oct. 27, according to top west side cop Lt. Rose Dell: A female stole three bags of shrimp and took off in a dark colored sedan.” She described as between 20 and 30 years of age, with shoulder-length black hair” and wearing all black clothing.”

On a more positive note, the owners of a Bridgeport seafood restaurant said they noticed an uptick in seafood popularity, and have opened a new eatery on New Haven’s Temple Street specializing in Cajun shrimp. Read about that here.
