With ingenuity, shoe leather, and some help from New Haven Independent readers, Cedar Hill Resident tracked down the owner of the pooch in this picture.
Cedar Hill Resident first posted an item earlier this week in the Independent seeking info on this lost dog she found in her neighborhood. She wrote in about what happened next:
Silky is his name. And what a job to find his owner! I have such a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart right now. So worth the extra effort!
After calling all pounds,vets and shelters I hit pay dirt last night at the New Haven Animal Hospital on State Street. I took him there to see if he had a chip (suggest by several of your
readers). He did but…. The chip was never registered.
So a call was made to the UK to find out info about the dog that the chip was put in. They told us the dog was sent to Long Island “puppy depot” So we call Puppy Depot they gave us a name in Jamaica Queens, NY. We called them and they said they gave him away a few years ago
to one of the sisters friends. So they got a hold of the sister at U‑Mass. In turn
she hunted down the old friend that the dog was given to who happens to have moved
to where….. NEW HAVEN, CT.
Now here is the topper the dog went missing in May. She did report it to the pound and hung posters and searched the area she lived for quite awhile. She will be coming to my house tonight to get him.
What an interesting little story with a happy ending. But the strange side note is …. the guy that
came to my house hoping it was his dog lives right near this owner.
What are the chances to 2 dogs of the same breed are taken in the same area. Hmm dog
thief in the Edgewood area???

The homecoming was great.
They pulled up in a mini entrouage. Everyone jumping out of the cars; the dog looked so happy it was amazing. The kindest people. They live 2 blocks from Edgewood park. They said they were going to the pound looking for him, not just calling. They did end up adopting a lab. They could not grasp the idea that someone went through so much to find the owner but were very happy that I did.
I gave her the chip number and info to register the dog. My neighbors all came out; it was great!
