An argument outside the Apple Store ended with a car smashing into other cars — from above — in the Broadway parking lot.
The crash occurred around 1:50 p.m., according to Sgt. Brendan Canning.
It followed a dispute a half-block east in front of the Apple Store.
A woman driving a Ford Taurus was double parked outside the store. She went inside and “was looking at the iPads,” a store employee told the Independent.
Back outside, the woman was engaged in a yelling argument with other parkers, according to witnesses who were parked across the street in the Broadway lot.
“We heard her slam her door. We heard her gun the engine … and fly off,” said one of the witnesses, who declined to be identified.
The driver sped away, swerved to avoid obstacles — and ended up airborne.
Her Taurus flew into the Broadway lot … and landed on the white Jeep Compass.

Along the way, she damaged six other cars as well, according to Assistant Fire Chief Justin McCarthy.
A fire department crew and an ambulance crew arrived on scene. The driver of the Taurus and a person who had been inside the Jeep were able to “get themselves out of their vehicles” on their own, according to McCarthy. They were assessed on site, then transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for further assessment.
The fire department stabilized the Taurus atop the Jeep to prevent it from falling.
“It could have been a lot worse” if other people had been standing in the immediate vicinity, Sgt. Canning said, as officers blocked off Broadway and waited for a tow truck. Traffic, including CT Transit buses, were diverted from the westbound block of Broadway. Frustrated parkers waited for what promised to be hours to be able to retrieve their vehicles from within a blocked-off portion of the lot.
