Today’s broadcasts covered advice on how to help New Haven’s homeless population, what it means to be a state prosecutor in the year 2015, the city’s police-community relations, and more.

Jesse Jhop” Hardy and Maureen Johnson of Jesse’s Homelessness Outreach Project joined Michelle Turner for the latest episode of The Show.” The three discussed Hardy’s goal to get folks off the streets and back on the grid” and gave advice for how New Haveners can help fight homelessness — and stereotypes about the city’s homeless population — as another cold winter draws near. Pastor John Lewis of the Connecticut Center for Nonviolence and retired Assistant Police Chief John Velleca appeared on Dateline New Haven” with Paul Bass. They discussed how police involvement in New Haven neighborhoods has changed since the 1970s and 80s, and why New Haven has been able to avoid violence like Minneapolis’ recent rash of race hate. On The Legal Eagle,” Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Gene Calistro, prosecutor in the Lishan Wang case, sat down with host Marcia Chambers to talk about how being a prosecutor in Connecticut has changed after over 30 years of practice. While the two could not discuss specifics in the Wang case, which is entering its fifth year, Calistro did discuss some of his favorite cases, including the raid and sale of a Victorian-house-turned-brothel in the early 2000s.
