On Tuesday morning, August 12, volunteers from Chabad of
Westville delivered close to 150 toys, games, puzzles and dolls to Ellen Good, manager of Child Life at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital.
For the second consecutive year, toys have been provided by “Toys for Hospitalized Children”, under the auspices of the New-York based NCFJE.
After delivering toys for more than half a century during the winter months and holiday season, they have recently begun a summer toy drive as well.
Rabbi Yossi Hodakov, director of Chabad of Westville, explains: “Think about it. What does a child feel like, knowing that his or her family and friends are having fun outdoors, running around at the playground or beach while he or she is stuck in a hospital room?”
In addition to the joy of the children who receive brand-new, high-quality, and age-appropriate toys, the gifts are also meaningful to the parents, who come to know that someone is thinking of them, someone cares.
