When and where can I vote?
Election day will take place on Monday, Sept. 16. In-person voting will take place at Career High School at 140 Legion Ave. from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Early voting will be available at 200 Orange St., the Hall of Records, from Wednesday, Sept. 11 to Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
During that period, several free parking spaces will be reserved for early voters outside the building.
Voters can still apply for an emergency absentee ballot in the case of an unforeseen illness or hospitalization by visiting the City Clerk’s office on the second floor of 200 Orange St. or sending in the application available on the city’s website here. After the application is approved, the absentee ballot itself must be received by the city by 8 p.m. on election day.
Am I eligible to vote in this race?
All U.S. citizens who reside in Ward 3 and are registered to vote are eligible to cast ballots in the special election, regardless of party affiliation.
Note that the city’s ward lines changed in 2023. You can find out whether you live within the updated Ward 3 boundaries here.
You can check your voter registration status here.
Finally, if you would like to register, you can do so by visiting the Registrar of Voters’ office on the second floor of 200 Orange St. by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. (Note that the deadline for online registration for this election has passed, and there is no same-day registration for this election.)
Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that early voting begins on Thursday. It actually begins on Wednesday.
