A woman inside her home heard a window break, went outside — then noticed she was bleeding.
That was one of several crimes reported over the weekend.
Here’s what happened in those instances, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.
Around 9:30 p.m. the 53-year-old woman living near Dixwell And Ivy heard a window break, but “didn’t hear a gunshot. [She] initially didn’t know she’d been shot.” She didn’t realize it until she went outside. She was taken to the hospital for treatment of a “non-life-threatening graze wound to the right side of her head.” Doctors were unsure whether the injury was from a bullet grazing the thigh or from a fall. Police didn’t get any description of the shooter. “As many as three” shots may have been fired, including one that hit a next-door house.
Top Edgewood cop Lt. Makiem Miller was the first on the scene of a reported burglary on Ellsworth Avenue shortly after 12:30 p.m. Sunday. He caught a 17-year-old from Hamden “as he tried to get his get-away bicycle in the driveway.”
A man drove to Ferry and Pierpont streets in Fair Haven Sunday night to buy marijuana, he told police. Instead, he told them, “an armed man approached his car,” pulled him out, stole his iPhone and wallet (making off with $20), then fled in a grey Subaru. The victim wasn’t injured.
A 50-year-old man is recovering from stab wounds after an acquaintance attacked him with a knife during an argument on Ferry Street late Saturday night.
