On 4/1 police responded to an alarm at a vacant building on Blake Street. Officer Michael Rubino opened the unlocked front door and was greeted by an inebriated male subject. He seemed confused and said he was unsure as to how he got inside the building. He last remembered having a few drinks at New West Café around the corner. Officer Rubino warned the subject not to trespass on the property again. The subject left and stumbled back to his home on Fountain Street.

Officer Patrick Bengston was dispatched to a report of a suspicious phone call received by a resident on Hilltop Road. The call was from an older male who said he had found a note with the resident’s phone number on his vehicle after it had been struck. He just got out of jail, and he demanded that she fix his Caddy or he was going to send people to assault her. The resident said she has not been involved in any accidents and rarely drives. Officer Bengston called the number, and no one answered. He explained to the resident that the call was most likely a scam and to block the number.

On 4/2, at around 8:20 pm, police responded to Moore Drive on the report of gunfire. Officers located multiple fired cartridge casings in an alleyway. A residence was struck by the gunfire and two bullet holes were found in a closet. Officers were able to view video surveillance of the incident.

Thursday evening at around 1:30 am police responded to Blake Street on the report of a person shot. Officers located a male victim in the middle of the roadway that had several gunshot wounds to his lower extremities. He was transported to the hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Detectives responded to interview witnesses, look for video surveillance and collect evidence. The investigation is ongoing.

On 4/6, at around 11:20 pm, police responded to Edgewood Park near the soccer field on the report of a single gunshot that was detected by ShotSpotter. Officers searched the park but did not locate any ballistic evidence or suspicious persons in the area.

On Friday, just after midnight, police responded to Marvel Road on a threatening complaint involving two neighbors. One neighbor reported that when she got home and opened her door, one of her dogs ran out and into her neighbor’s yard. When she went into the yard to retrieve the dog, her neighbor threatened to shoot her and her dog. The other neighbor said that he was just venting, because he was tired of finding dog feces on his property. The angry neighbor was issued a summons for his tirade.
