Police responded on 5/27 to the Yale Tennis Center on a vandalism complaint. An employee arrived at work and found an exterior door underneath the center had been propped open with a small stone. The back wall was spray painted pink with a crude reference to male genitalia. Some of the desktops were rummaged through, but nothing was reported stolen.
On 5/28, police responded to the 1800 block of Chapel Street for a burglary. The resident awoke in the morning and found a window to her garage was broken. Her vehicle, which was parked in the garage and locked, also had a broken window. No items were reported missing, but a pair of brown sunglasses which did not belong to the resident was found on the front seat. The sunglasses were processed for clues which could be used to identity the perpetrator.
Two residents reported items were stolen from their vehicles this week. A resident of Stevenson Road had her unopened Iphone X stolen from the back seat of her vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry. On 5/31, a resident of Barnett Street found all of her vehicle doors ajar, and her wallet and guitar were missing. Once again, the vehicle appeared to have been left unlocked.
On 5/29, residents of Victory Drive reported that their vehicles were broken into on a couple of occasions over the last few months. While in the upstairs bedroom, they heard a noise outside and looked out the window. They saw the female who lives next door peering into the windows of their vehicle. While they spoke to the Officer, they saw the female walk into her house. The Officer knocked on the door and spoke to the female about her actions. She claimed that she was using the windows to look at her appearance. The Officer advised the female to stay away from her neighbor’s vehicle and consider the purchase of a mirror.
Police responded to the intersection of Valley Street and East Ramsdell Street on a located stolen vehicle. The owner of the vehicle was present and explained that his vehicle and his computer were stolen from Ansonia on 5/24. He did some research and found his computer for sale on Craigslist in the area of Foote Street in New Haven. As he traveled to that location, he spotted his stolen car on Valley Street and called the police.
