A 26-year-old New Haven woman drove into a utility pole Friday morning and ended up in the hospital.
The crash occurred at 1329 Whalley Ave., between Davis and Anthony streets, at 7 a.m.
The woman, the only occupant of the car, hit the pole, which then fell on her vehicle. She “sustained non-obvious, non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to the hospital,” reported police spokesman Capt. Anthony Duff.
A patrol officer issued the driver an infraction ticket, charging her with traveling too fast for conditions.
The car’s air bags deployed during the crash.
The car was towed from the scene.
Police remained on the scene most of the morning along with a United Illuminating crew, which fixed the pole.
