What the heck just happened?
How did Donald Trump manage to convince more Americans from all walks of life, including Black and Latino voters, to cast ballots for his 2024 presidential election than he or other Republicans had for a generation?
Don’t ask me. I’m a white guy member of “the media” (i.e. news outlets that don’t include Fox or Twitter). I have no idea how that happened.
Fortunately, I work at a radio station where two of the most prominent voices have been … Black and Latino pundits who voted against Kamala Harris and know why they and many others they know have gravitated away from the Democrats to the “right” side of the political spectrum.
Also fortunately, those two people — WNHH station manager Harry Droz and community activist/ retired police sergeant / businessman Shafiq Abdussabur — agreed to try to explain what just happened. Over the air. On WNHH FM’s “Dateline New Haven” program.
You can watch what they said in the video at the top of this story. (Click here to subscribe or here to listen to other episodes of“Dateline New Haven.”)
