Two people were shot, one fatally, Wednesday morning in what police termed a domestic incident.
Police responded around 8 a..m. to a report of a double shooting in the vicinity of Pine Rock Avenue and Arch Street.
They arrived to find two people inside a motor vehicle, according to police spokesperson Capt. Ronald Smith.
Both had been shot.
One, a woman, was in the driver’s seat. She was pronounced dead.
Police Thursday identified the victim as Darlene Brown, 43, of Hamden.
The other, a 57-year-old man, “was found lying on the ground, in the vicinity of the passenger side of the vehicle. He was shot in the torso and is listed in critical condition,” Smith wrote in a release issued late Wednesday afternoon. Update: His condition Thursday was listed as “serious.”
He said police believe the shootings were “domestic violence related” and “are not searching for the shooter.”
The couple had recently married.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will do an autopsy on the woman, whose name police did not release, pending notification of next of kin.
Smith asked anyone with information to contact Detective Joseph Liguori at (203) 407‑3190 or (203) 230‑4000.
