An 11-year-old boy is suffering from a broken arm after his bicycle was struck by a car in Fair Haven.
The crash happened at about 8:10 p.m. Monday night, according to Officer Joe Avery. Three children, two boys and a girl, were riding their bikes south on Blatchley Avenue. The boy was struck by a car as he tried to turn left in front of traffic onto Peck Street.
The driver “tried to swerve to avoid him but couldn’t,” Avery said. The girl told police that the kids had “tried to beat the car that was coming.” Several witnesses corroborated her story.
A cop showed up and determined that the driver was not at fault, Avery said.
In other news, according to city spokeswoman Jessica Mayorga:
Eight women were arrested Tuesday in the ninth in a series of prostitution stings.
“The sting was done utilizing a local hotel (which will remain unnamed for the purposes of the investigation and subsequent investigations) after contacting women who publicized their ‘services’ through various advertisements through the internet and local newspapers.”
