Little League season opened two weeks ago and the way the weather has been since then, they may not finish until September. That’s not likely to happen, but they already have some games to make up because of so many rainy days.
Opening day was held for the 68th year in a row. What started years ago with one field, now has a complex of six fields including a concession stand in the center. Sometimes getting started requires perspective.

Persistence pays off. After presenting their case to the school district and the Board of Education, the town’s cafeteria workers will retain their jobs.
The schools superintendent’s office announced Monday that Chartwells food management company was awarded the contract after a competitive bidding process. Whitsons Culinary Group was the only other bidder; that company serves Shelton and has been under fire for its cost-cutting measures.
