Farm Out!

New Haven’s Premier Concerts/Manic Presents concert promoters have found way to stage live shows this summer — and keep everyone safe: Do it on 10 acres of manicured farmland with 8‑foot-by-8-foot social distancing grids.”

The promoters — working with a subsidiary of New Haven Center for Performing Arts (which owns the College Street Music Hall) — announced Monday morning that they will stage the concerts at South Farms in the Litchfield County town of Morris. Concert-goers will purchase a spot on the grid, hand sanitizer will be passed around like joints at a Grateful Dead concert, and capacity will be kept to 25 percent in accordance with state Covid-19 guidelines.

The first two announced shows are feature singer-songwriter Grace Potter, on Aug. 22; and Comedy Central’s Nikki Glaser on Aug. 30. (Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.) More shows are in the pipeline, according to the promoters.

The grids are designed for two people to occupy.

Grids cannot be merged and it is required to watch the performance from your designated area. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfortable seating and enjoying the farm field. Outside food and beverages are prohibited. Food trucks and a full bar will be available on site.” according to a press statement released Monday.

Everyone entering the venue, including guests, artists, crew and staff will be health checked including a temperature check and short questionnaire. Masks and gloves will be available upon request.”
