An early-morning house fire on Sheffield Avenue Friday spread to two neighboring buildings and displaced 20 people.
The call came in to the fire department at 3:41 a.m., according to Fire Chief John Alston Jr.
Firefighters arrived to find power lines down. And the fire that started at three-family 33 Sheffield spread to neighboring houses.
Everyone got out safely.
The two-alarm blaze badly damaged all of 33 Sheffield and upper floors of the neighboring houses.
Flames shot through the windows and burst through the roof.
One firefighter went to hospital and was later treated and released.
United Illuminating shut off power on the block.
Investigators do not yet know where the fire started or why, according to Alston.
