Harp Vows To Reveal Mystery Donors”

Mayor Toni Harp Monday promised to update campaign reports to reveal the names of a new batch of mystery donors” cited by her primary campaign opponent.

That opponent, Justin Elicker, has filed a complaint with the State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC) over nearly $5,700 of additional unreported donors, over 200 misreported donations, over $4,000 in unidentified expenditures, and other reporting irregularities” in Harp’s 2019 campaign finance reports. Elicker is challenging Harp in a Sept. 10 Democratic mayoral primary; both candidates also have a guaranteed listing on at least one ballot line in the Nov. 5 general election.

The public deserves to know who is funding Mayor Harp’s campaign. The City of New Haven needs to move beyond mismanagement and corruption. It’s time to clean up City Hall,” Elicker stated in a campaign release.

I’ve spoken to our bookkeeper and treasurer, and they’re going to file an amendment” listing the names of those unidentified 2019 contributors, Harp told the Independent.

Elicker’s campaign also has a pending SEEC complaint over $100,000 in donations from still-unidentified contributors to her 2017 mayoral campaign. Harp Monday said her campaign staff is working on filing amendments to identify those donors as well.
