A top cop is moving from overseeing internal affairs to refilling a spot in the chief’s office.

The cop, Lt. Anthony Campbell (pictured), will begin serving Monday as administrative lieutenant” in the office of Chief Dean Esserman. He will oversee the public-information and victim’s advocate staffers as well as administrative staff in the chief’s office, take on special projects, and act as a liaison to other city agencies as well as the Board of Alders.

The position has existed in the past, though it went unfilled in recent years.

Campbell, a Yale Divinity School-trained Christian minister, has run the internal affairs division since December. Before that he ran the police training academy.
