Caravan Comes To Westville

The thieves” comprise Caravan of Thieves, the area’s hottest gypsy-jazz-folk-pop acoustic act. (Think Django Reinhardt meets Queen.)

The foursome was the headliner of a three-act show at Jennifer Jane Gallery on West Rock Avenue, in the newish artists’ housing/studio/gallery complex across from Edgewood Park. It was the perfect space for an intimate, lively concert on a cool summer night.

The gallery was jammed with listeners enjoying ice-cold cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon and checking out the latest three-photographer show hanging on the walls. Featured: Sven Martson’s shots of Latin America, Robert Lisak’s Peru, Andrew Hogan’s Houston, San Francisco, and Chicago.

The combo features two acoustic guitars, and upright bass, and a fiddle; red-hot arrangements, tight harmonies, sizzlng solos and relentless good cheer. Opening for Caravan of Thieves Saturday night were Goodnight Blue Moon and Matt Wagner.
