A Bloods gang member has been charged with fatally shooting a man who was sitting in a car at the Garden Street Park in March, police said.
The suspect, a 25-year-old man from 103 Kensington St., was arrested Thursday at 6 p.m., according to Officer Joe Avery.
According to Avery: The suspect is accused of killing Shawn Alexander on March 13 at about 3:30 a.m. outside 14 Garden St. Alexander and his friend were both wounded by gunfire; his friend survived and ran to the hospital to report the shooting. Police found Alexander in a running vehicle at Garden Street Park, part of Kensington Square.
The suspect “claimed affiliation to the Bloods Street Gang.” He is a convicted felon and was on probation at the time of the murder, police said. He was arrested on a warrant for murder, first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit and criminal use of a firearm.

Two Yale undergraduate students were assaulted and robbed of their cell phones by a lone mugger Friday morning. The robbery took place in front of 371 Elm St. around 1:33 a.m. The students suffered minor injuries; no weapon was reported.
