McMahon Backer’s
House Vandalized

Darnell Goldson didn’t give away any international government secrets. He merely backed a Republican for U.S. Senate — and that, he believes, was enough to get his house egged.

Goldson, a West Rock alderman, has taken heat from his fellow Democrats lately for endorsing Republican Linda McMahon in the Senate race. (Read some of the responses here.)

Overnight Monday or early Tuesday, that heat intensified, he said.

My daughter’s school bus honks the horn this morning,” he said Tuesday. I open the door to send her out to her school bus, and I’m greeted by egg yolk all over my front door.”

He looked at the lawn. His Linda McMahon sign had been pulled out. Someone had mangled it. It looks like they started ripping it, but it’s heavy plastic,” he said. They only got partially through.”

Then he looked at the lawn sign he has for Democrat Dan Malloy, who’s running for governor. That was untouched.

Goldson concluded — though he can’t prove it — that the vandalism grew out of the intense flak he has taken for supporting a Republican Senate candidate.

This stuff is insane. It seems as though people are losing their minds,” Goldson said. You would think that I gave the blueprints to a nuclear bomb to Iran or something.”

Goldson called the cops. Officer Edward Dunford showed up, took a report, and promised to keep an eye on the house during his overnight shift, Goldson said. The police had no immediate comment Tuesday morning.
