There’s a reason eating chicken can lead to hot flashes.

What you’re trying to do to a chicken is trying to get breasts really large so they look attractive in the grocery store,” noted Dr. Ginger Nash. How they do that is pump them full of estrogen ….”

Nash, a local naturopath, made that observation during a discussion about women’s health on the latest episode of WNHH’s Mornings With Mubarakah,” hosted by Mubarakah Ibrahim (pictured). Nash and Ibrahim urged listeners to be a voice, not an echo, as they explore women’s health and nutrition.

The discussion touched on menopausal moments, hormonal imbalances, and the quest for the perfect hormonal diet.”

There’s no ideal diet in a vacuum,” though avoiding foods with excess hormones and antibiotic residues and preservatives — those kinds of things you can’t pronounce on food labels” — can only help, Nash said.

Green tea? Thumbs up.

Chocolate? Thumbs up.

So-called Superfoods? A silly catch phrase.”
