Police Investigating Arthur Street Death As Homicide

The city police department is investigating the June death of a 33-year-old West Haven woman on Arthur Street as a homicide, after the state Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that she had died due to strangulation.

City police spokesperson Capt. Anthony Duff sent out that update Wednesday afternoon via an email press release.

The woman who was killed was named Nancy Rivas.

Referencing a press release first sent out mid-June by the department, Duff wrote that, on June 12, just after 8:15 a.m., city police and firefighters to a 911 call by a pedestrian passerby who found Rivas unresponsive and lying in an Arthur Street driveway.

Emergency medical responders were unable to revive Rivas and pronounced her deceased on scene.

Detectives continue to ask anyone with information to contact the New Haven Police Department at 203 – 946-6304.
