Two staff members in New Haven Public School’s adult education program and one person at Betsy Ross Arts Magnet Middle School have tested positive for Covid-19.
Both New Haven Adult & Continuing Education Center employees came down with the virus separately outside of work, according to the city’s health department.
Superintendent Iline Tracey confirmed the two Adult Ed cases and said that a third person came down with Covid-19 at Betsy Ross.
No students or other staff members were exposed to the virus, the contact tracing process in the adult education program has found. However, the health department found a gap in the screening protocols schools used to prevent those with Covid symptoms from entering school buildings.
This adds three to the four NHPS staff members, from four different schools, who tested positive for Covid-19 last week.
Nearly all students, except for a few students with disabilities, are still learning remotely for the first quarter of the school year.
