An argument among three women in the Hill Tuesday night left one dead, another hospitalized.
So reported New Haven police spokesperson Capt. Anthony Duff.
911 callers first alerted police to the incident at 10:14 p.m. They found a 28-year-old woman who had been on Auburn Street. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital. She was identified as Dwaneia Alexandria Turner.
At the scene, the police detained a suspect, a 32-year-old West Haven woman who was later arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
Also at the scene, police learned of a second shooting victim. They found that woman, who is 28 and from West Haven, nearby outside a corner store on Sylvan Avenue. She had been shot in the hand. She went to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
It was the first homicide in a month, after the city saw seven homicides in the first month and a half of 2021.
