Mr. Evaton Radcliff Kidd, Sr., 72, of New Haven, affectionately known as “Eva, Tan-Tan, Buninard, Pops” departed this life on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Evaton was born on October 28, 1948, in Hayes Corn Piece District, Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies, to the late Aldin Kidd and Elvie Claire Taylor Ennis.
Growing up Evaton Kidd attended Teacher Brown and Teacher Lewis Private School in Jamaica. As he continued his education he received his welding certificate from Vere Technical High School. After receiving his welding license, Mr. Kidd began working to support his family. In Jamaica he initially worked for Alpart Alumina Refinery and then for Alcoa, which opened the opportunity for him to migrate to the United States in 1971. He worked for CT Pipe Fitters Local 777. He performed specialized x‑ray welding at Yale Power Plant, Milestone Power Plant and various locations for the local 777 organization. He was a member in good standing with the Union.
Prior to migrating to the United States, Mr. Kidd met and fell in love with the love of his life Pauline M. Green-Kidd. They began their family in Jamaica with their first child Roina Kidd-Beason (Westley); then followed Oriendel Kidd (Camille); Dionna Kidd- Dontfraid (John); and Neville (Sancia) Kidd. Shortly after being in America, he filed for his wife, and then they continue to grow their family with two more children adding to the bunch, Natasha Kidd and Evaton Kidd, Jr. (Tashesha). In 1977 he brought their children up from Jamaica where the family was reunited once again. He also, sponsored his sister and her family to come to the United States.
Evaton lived a loved and enriching life. He loved his wife and children very much and always told us he was “Proud of his Family”. He enjoyed being with family and friends sharing food (cow foot), dancing, music, love, laughter, and fun. He loved to sit down in the backyard and watch his family and close friends come together and have fun. He was loved by many and always made everyone around him laugh and feel special. He was always attentive with a listening ear and was wise in counsel & supportive to his loved ones. Driving was one of Mr. Kidd’s passions; throughout his life he has driven to many different States. He was always willing to drive his family and friends wherever they wanted to go whether it was near or far. He also loved going to the race track and the casino, but most of all he loved being with his family and friends even more.
Evaton leaves to cherish his precious memories and lives on through his devoted wife, Pauline M. Green-Kidd; sister, Colleen Taylor Miller, of New Haven, CT, six children, 17 grandchildren (Ashley, Neville, Monique, Jessica, Evanisha, Joseph, Montell, Darianna, Jeremiah, Michael, Darrington, Anthony, Brittany, Trinity, Sani, Zion, and Taylor), and nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Claude Kidd and his sister Althea Kidd.
We love you Evaton Kidd and you will forever live in our hearts and we will always remember you as a loving Husband, Brother, Son, Father (and father-in-law), Uncle, Grandpa, and great Friend. May your soul now rest in peace.
