Maple Lee Wylie Senior, 87, of New Haven, passed away Monday, Nov. 13, 2023. She was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina on Feb. 2, 1936 to the late Thomas Procell Wylie and Irene Brice. She attended schools in Rock Hill. In 1959, Maple moved to New Haven where she met and married her beloved husband, William Senior. She worked for many years as a private duty caretaker.
Maple loved attending church and was a member of Rehoboth C.O.G.I.C Church in Bridgeport, CT. She was known for reading her Bible any time of the day. Outside of church, Maple enjoyed cooking. She also made sure her family and friends knew she cooked her first Thanksgiving meal at the age of 11. Maple made her food with love, especially her lemon meringue pies.
In her spare time, Maple styled fabulous hairstyles for family members and friends. Her daughters always had beautiful hairstyles for school and church. Maple had a passion for fishing and would spend hours at the sea. She loved family barbecues and was known for playing a good game of spades. It was her family that brought her true happiness; she would do anything for them and always put them first. She would open her house to everyone in the neighborhood so they always had a place to call home.
