Norris Israel, 75, of New Haven, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He was born on the Caribbean Island of St. Vincent on February 6, 1949 to the late Edward Israel and Lillie Pike. He lived with his aunt, Adina Corke, for many years before he moved to Trinidad with his mother. He lived there until he immigrated to the United States in 1970.
While living in Trinidad he was well loved by his many friends and coworkers. He managed several of the top restaurants and became known for his managerial talent, strong work ethic, and his love for people. His love for others was returned with warmth and admiration by his many adoring acquaintances, and especially by the ladies.
Norris’ strong work ethic continued in the United States, in the City of Baltimore, the first city where he settled after immigrating to the United States. He headed maintenance operations at the Baltimore Washington Airport where his work was applauded and celebrated by upper management, coworkers, and airport patrons. Norris married his first wife in Baltimore and he also fathered two sons, Norris, Jr. and Dana. After leaving his beloved Baltimore, Norris moved to New Haven, Connecticut. He secured employment in the maintenance department at Yale University. He continued his very strong work ethic and his congenial and friendly way of making friends and connecting with others. He was loved and appreciated by management and coworkers alike. The most significant part of Norris’ life, after he moved to New Haven, was meeting and marrying the love of his life Lorna, who has been a great source of support and love for Norris.
Norris was a son, brother, father, cousin, and friend to many. He was beloved by all and will be lovingly remembered as someone who laughed readily and brought a smile to the faces of many, with his witty comments, and infectious sense of humor.
Norris leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife, Lorna Israel; sons, Norris Israel, Jr. and Dana Israel; brothers, Eddy, Pat, Norris, and Winston; sisters, Theresa, Grace, and Sonia; cousins, Andrea, Janis, Peggy, Nola, Ralo, Denis, Neddy, Atnel, Geest, Romel, Elvis, Terry, Altea, Sabbeth, Jamel, Kaka, Jacqueline, Sherma, and Noel; and a host of other relatives and friends.
