Sandra Willis, 76

Evangelist Sandra L. Willis was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 26, 1948 to the late Clarence and Willie Mae Brown-Willis. She was the youngest of three children. She was the mother of Vaughn M. Willis, her only son, her EVERYTHING!

Sandra attended Southern Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York where she sang in the Divine Life Choir. Later, she moved her membership to New Bethel Church of God in Christ in Danbury, Connecticut where she served in many capacities including the Christian Women’s Council Auxiliary and the Church Nurses Unit. Sandra studied and became a licensed Evangelist Missionary. She served under the leadership of Pastor Henry N. White, Sr., whom she respected. She also worked closely with her first lady, the late Evangelist Jacqueline White. Sandra was a woman of faith, she would testify about God’s healing, and all that the Lord had done for her.

Sandra loved to travel. She especially enjoyed going on cruises with her buddy, Brenda and her niece, Sharon. Family was very important to her. She strongly believed in keeping everyone united and made every attempt to do so. She also loved cooking and baking. She was most proud of her chocolate cake. While she enjoyed sharing a good meal with her family, she would often exclaim this food is good, but my food is the best.”

She received her education at Wingate High School in Brooklyn, New York. She began her career in the workforce at Rikers Island Complex in New York as an Administrative Clerk. When she relocated to Connecticut she worked at Danbury Hospital as a Psychiatric Technician until her retirement.

Sandra, affectionately known as Lynn”, Mama Lynn” and Grandma”, cherished spending time with her family. The highlight of her day would be talking with her boys; Vaughn, Justin, or Booka (Little Vaughn). She bragged about them to anyone who would listen. She made it crystal clear that those were her boys.”

She leaves to mourn her memory, her devoted son, Vaughn M. Willis (Stephanie Y.); grandchildren, Justin A. Willis (Jessica), Nia S. James, and Vaughn E. Willis; great- granddaughters, Maia Willis and Peyton Willis; and niece, Sharon Kane. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Nuna; and brother, Clarence Scoop/Rasu.” She peacefully transitioned into eternal rest at her home on November 3, 2024. The trumpet sounded and our dear mother, grandmother and friend was relieved from her earthly duties.
