Faustina “Tina” Barros, a longtime resident of New Haven, Connecticut, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on November 20, 1936, to the late Antonio and Gladys Barros, in New Haven, she spent her entire life in the city that she loved, surrounded by friends, family, and the community that she served with joy and dedication.
Tina was a graduate of Wilbur Cross High School, where she formed friendships and values that lasted a lifetime. She began her career working for GANT Shirts and Clothing Manufacturing, where she dedicated 21 years of service. Her commitment to excellence was evident in her work, and she carried this trait with her when she later joined Sargent Assa Abloy Manufacturing. There, as a final inspector, Tina’s keen eye for detail and her unwavering standards contributed to the company’s reputation for quality. She retired after 26 years, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and a work ethic that inspired her colleagues.
Outside of her professional life, Tina was known for her green thumb and artistic flair. Her passion for planting flowers was more than a hobby; it was a form of expression that beautified her community. The Sherman Court Condos were often adorned with her vibrant and meticulously cared-for floral displays, which brought joy to all who passed by. Tina’s talent did not go unnoticed, as she was honored with the “Most Beautiful Flower & Garden Display” award by St. Raphael’s Hospital (Yale), a testament to her skill and her ability to create beauty in the world.
Tina’s spirited nature was matched only by her faith, which guided her throughout her life. She was a source of wisdom for many, offering advice and support to those around her. Her presence was a comforting constant, and her ability to see the good in every situation was a gift that she shared generously.
Though she is pre-deceased by her brother, Antonio Barros, Tina’s spirit lives on through her beloved daughter, Renee Barros (Richard); and her cherished grandson, James Barros. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
Tina’s life was a testament to the power of positivity, the importance of community, and the enduring strength of family. She showed this, especially in the relationships with her sisters, Eva Watt and Gladys Lee; and her sister-in-law, Delores Johnson. Her Family, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many friends will always smile at the memories that were created with Tina. Her impact on those she met was profound, and her memory will be treasured by all who knew her.
As we say farewell to Faustina “Tina” Barros, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, passion, and an abundance of love. Her legacy will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her spirit. She will be deeply missed, but her wisdom, faith, and the beauty she cultivated in the world will remain a lasting tribute to a life well-lived.
Faustina fought the Good Fight of Faith, with an enjoyable journey to living the life GOD has to offer.
Seek first His Kingdom and Righteousness, and all other things will be added to you as well. Matthew 6:33
