Wirt Louise Colman-Staten took her final breath, surrounded by her loved ones, and peacefully transitioned into God’s graces on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. The world became a little brighter with Wirt’s arrival, when the sun rose for her on January 8, 1948 in South Boston, VA. Wirt lived a full and warm life, brimming with joy. Her presence brought joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Wirt is now reunited in heaven with her grandparents; mother, Bessie Powell; and daughter, Sandra Staten. She is survived by her husband, Glasco Staten, Sr.; and leaves behind a legacy in her two children, Victoria Staten and Glasco Staten, Jr. Wirt is also remembered by her daughter-in-law, Casandra Staten; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four siblings, Ernest, Nathanael, Kitty, and Toney Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
As we bid farewell, let us find comfort in Psalms 48:14: “For this God is our God forever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.”
Wirt’s memory will be cherished, and her absence keenly felt. Join us in celebrating her beautiful life on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Walk of Faith Church, 104 Fairmont Ave, New Haven, CT 06513.
